Nag Panchami 2079 Festival is the traditional worship of snakes observed by Hindus throughout India and Nepal. It’s a day of snakes worshiped on the fifth day following the no-moon (aushi). So the day is called as Nag Panchami.

Hindu Mythology
According to Hindu mythology, Nags are deity snakes. The ritual is widely observed in Nepal, particularly for the fight between Garuda and a great serpent.
Nag Puja Celebration
On the Nag Panchami day, snakes are worshiped with milk, sweets, flowers and lamps. Images of Nag deities made of silver, stone, wood or paintings on the wall are first bathed with water and milk and then worshiped with the reciting of the following mantras.

People make cotton garland, use cow dung and rice flour as the snake form and worship it with cow’s milk, lava, barley, sesame, nuts and flowers. According to Hindu myth, it is believed that proper celebration of nags will protect us from the bad evil and bless with good health, wealth during our lifetime.

- Ploughing and digging is forbidden on Nag Panchami because it might inadvertently kill a snake.
- In Hindu mythology snakes represent rain and are often regarded as the deities of ponds and rivers.
- While all serpents and snakes are worshipers, the main ritual even is to offer milk and crystallized sugar to cobra
- Cobra is short for cobra de capelo or cobra-de-capelo, which is Portuguese for “snake with hood” or “hood-snake”
